Tomorrow night the real work begins! The Diagonal Street Precinct has been identified as the starting point. Watch this space for the first listings to come through.
After looking at the provisional ‘rating template’, Henry Paine suggested aligning the tool much more closely to NHRA. He forwarded an example of the tool his team used during the analysis of heritage buildings affected by the Gautrain project. This tool will be discussed in the next methodology meeting on the 10th March.
Sue Krige added to the electronic discussion by highlighting the most important parts of the Act for us to follow.
The general feeling of the committee is to spend more time developing a solid methodology before we dive into the actual listing process.
Good progress was made at last night’s meeting. A skeleton of a methodology has been produced which will be tested and refined during a practical session on the 10 March.
This session will hopefully provide all the necessary tools for us to ‘hit the streets’ and get stuck in!
